Peaceful Whimsy

This latest pattern and kit in the shop is by ….. ME! Peaceful Whimsy is a modern hand embroidery pattern that is a unique take on the traditional sampler. The seven page pattern (available either as a downloadable pdf or a printed version that includes the design preprinted on cotton fabric) includes stitch diagrams, thread color guild, and a tracing template/coloring page. The Stitch and Color Guide provides all the stitches and thread colors used in the sample design, but I encourage you to experiment with thread and stitch placement.

The design has been used in our Modern Embroidery workshops while I edited the instructions and diagrams for pattern purposes. I am excited that Peaceful Whimsy is now available as a stand alone pattern for those who are unable to attend a local workshop.

The sample was stitched using 24 different Wonderfil Eleganza threads in 8wt. Ever since taking a Sue Spargo class, I have been hooked on these Perle cotton threads. The pattern has a thread conversion chart for those who prefer DMC threads. Of course, as I mentioned, you are the boss of your embroidery. Choose whatever threads in whatever amount you desire.

Above is a close up that gives you an idea of the stitches used. The pattern provides instructions for the straight stitch, running stitch, backstitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, lazy daisy stitch, French knots, woven circle, whipped backstitch, woven backstitch, and the pearl stitch. Mentioned in the pattern are additional resources such at Creative Stitch by Sue Spargo and our YouTube channel.

While The Craft Table is not currently open to the public while we are under Stay at Home orders, we are able to ship orders from our online shop. Also, we plan to host virtual craft togethers beginning next week so be on the lookout for that information. If you haven’t already, subscribe to our newsletter so you don’t miss any announcements.

Stay well. Stay home.
