100 Day Projects and a Summer Sew-Along
Have you ever done a 100 Day Project?! I have participated in a few over the years. They are a great way to establish a habit, get caught up on a project, learn something new, and “meet” new people . Starting June 1st, Sew Fine Thread Gloss is hosting a 100 Day Summer Sew-Along with a focus on hand stitched projects. You know I am all in for that!!! Plus, Jenn is offering prizes to those who participate, and The Craft Table is one of the sponsors.
I thought I would share some inspiration and ideas if you are looking for a 100 day project. Of course, it does not have to be a hand stitched project or even made during this particular 100 day project. Bookmark and save for future reference if your schedule doesn’t allow you to play along now.
I, personally, will use the Sew-Along to stay current with my 2021 Temperature Quilt but I couldn’t resist the opportunity for beginning a new project. I will also be making 100 EPP blocks for a new version of my Happy Flower Quilt which I am calling the Flower Blossom Quilt. More on that later in this post.
If I didn’t already have 2 different 100 Day Projects going on at the moment, these Liberty hearts would be top of my list!! They stitch up rather quickly, and I have a thing for hearts.
These circles were practice for my Temperature Quilt, and I love the idea of a scrappy circle quilt. I have turned a few of these tiny circle blocks into cute pincushions. Applipops are game changer in circle making.
Speaking of circles, here’s an embroidery project with circles. Sue Spargo’s pattern layout is 9 circles by 10, but you can easily add another row to make this the perfect 100 day project. This sampler has been on my want-to-do-list for a while though in a different color way.
These Postcard Projects are a perfect 100 Day project as each project can be made to any size. They come with directions and a template for each design. Make a block a day for 100 days or keep going until you have a quilt size project.
During the filming and editing of my Happy Flower EPP online workshop, I realized there are still so many projects I want to make with these blocks. I designed a quilt layout with larger versions of the blocks that will give me a finished quilt top at the end of the 100 days! My original idea was a scrappy quilt, but now I am going to make a solid version using Alison Glass Kaleidoscope fabrics.
I would love to have some company if you are interested in making a Flower Blossom Quilt too. I have a lesson dedicated to this quilt in my online workshop. A stand alone pattern with the fabric requirements will be available soon.
Has this post convinced you to join us? Sew Fine also has a blog post with inspiration and ideas. Check out this hashtag #100DaySummerSewAlong for posts about the Summer Sew-Along and hashtag #the100DayProject for all types of creative projects.
Happy stitching,
