Week 14 - Summer Stitch Along

It’s the last week of the Summer Embroidery Stitch Along. I hope you have enjoyed learning a new stitch each week and embroidering on your fabric panel! It’s been a wonderful experience for me!

Framed embroidered fabric panel

In this week’s video, I share several ways you can incorporate your embroidered fabric panel into a completed project. The panel is approximately 21” square (though not exact…make sure you measure yours) which results in a 20” square if sewn into a pillow, tote bag, or quilt for example.

No matter how you choose to use your competed panel, you will want to give it a good press after the embroidering is complete. I recommend placing the stitched side face down on a towel that has been placed on the ironing surface. The towel provides a cushion so your stitches do not become flattened in the pressing process. Of course, spraying with Flatter helps remove the wrinkles and any remaining “circles” from the embroidery hoop.

Pillow made with embroidered fabric panel

One way to use your embroidered fabric panel is to make a pillow cushion. I used Crazy Mom Quilt’s tutorial for an envelope-back pillow cover. Her instructions are perfect for this size panel so there are no adjustments needed to make a 20” cushion cover.

Turning your stitched panel into a flat-bottomed tote bag is another good idea. This tutorial by Madam Sew seems like a good one. If you are using the Blue Magic fabric panel, you will need to adjust the sizes of the fabric pieces. I discuss this in the video tutorial.
