APPLIPOPS are Here!
I was intrigued by these tools to make perfect circles and had to carry them in the shop! After playing with them a bit, I am now using them to make a Temperature Quilt. If you keep reading, you will find a step by step tutorial on how to use the Applipops as well as a link to our YouTube tutorial.
Since all the circles I am making for this particular project are 2”, I am using the Applipops Assembly Line 2” Circles Pack. Applipops offer assembly line packs in other circle sizes and also come in a variety pack for making eight different size circles. You can find them all here.
Two rings are used to make the circles. Place the larger ring on the right side of your fabric and the inner ring on the back side of your fabric.
Trim the excess fabric - I use the outer ring as my guide for cutting.
Brush liquid starch onto the “seam” of your circle. Here is a link to the starch I am using. I pour a bit in a shallow bowl and use a paintbrush for applying starch to my fabric.
Work the fabric towards the center of the ring, making sure there are no puckers around the edge.
Use your iron to press the fabric towards the center. BE VERY CAREFUL AS THE RINGS ARE MADE OF STEEL AND GET VERY HOT!!! Once the fabric is pressed towards the center, give it a good press from the top. LET THE APPLIPOPS COOL COMPLETELY BEFORE REMOVING THE RINGS.
Once the Applipops are cooled, remove the rings and give the circle another good press. Ta da!! Perfect circles!
I highly recommend watching our Applipops YouTube Tutorial for a live demonstration on making these circles more tips and tricks. It is so much easier to SHOW you how to make the circles!
